Living in New England most of my life I have been conditioned to perceive Christmas only associated with wintery scenes. Whether it is Christmas carols, stories or corporate marketing everything related to Christmas is depicted in a beautiful snowy winter setting. Right………………………………… well not always.
Like most coming from the north I was stunned by the level of “holiday spirit” enjoyed every year in Florida. Let me tell you the cold wintery scene’s etched in my mind have quickly melted away and replaced with balmy breezes. What doesn’t change and if anything gets kicked up a notch is the Christmas Spirit. Keep in mind most living in Florida are typically from the north that’ve brought all their holiday cheer with them and then some.
I live in Punta Gorda Isles where your average December day reaches 75 degrees just the perfect temperature to spend time decorating your home. Think of it, stringing Christmas lights and decorations outside without the hassle or frozen hands. The result is unbelievable decorations and lights everywhere you go. Getting special attention here in Punta Gorda are boats, power or sail dressed out in spectacular fashion.
We call it “Holidays on Charotte Harbor” with brilliant lights illuminating our town and waterways unlike anything you see up north. In addition we have a variety of activities and events which generates festive holiday cheer. Here is just a sampling of what’s going on in the Punta Gorda area and why Coastal Living Magazine rates Punta Gorda one of the top ten Holiday Celebrations in the Country.
Fishermen’s Village is decked out in over 1 million lights while offering numerous holiday events.
Charlotte Harbor enjoys 2 lighted boat parades the Peace River Lighted Boat Parade and the Punta Gorda Lighted Boat Parade.
King Fisher Fleet runs scheduled tours of Punta Gorda Isles nightly taking in the extravagant lighting along the canals.
31st Annual Christmas Parade in downtown Punta Gorda.
This is just a small sampling of the numerous events to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
So when you think Christmas minus the cold and snow come on down. While you here why not checkout the tremendous values in Punta Gorda FL real estate.
