Florida continues to rank number one for retirement destination, landing ten of the top twelve spots. According to Portfoilio.com the greater Sarasota area captured the top spot with greater Punta Gorda rated 9th. Using indicators such as senior population, median age and other statistical data compiled from 157 other cities puts Southwest Florida as the place to be.
It’s no secret that our area is a superb place to retire, providing a steady source of new folks coming to Southwest Florida. Port Charlotte as an example has been attracting retires for a long time, consistently ranking high on national studies for best place to retire. Many will say Portfoilio.com is only reinforcing what is common knowledge………. but this is good news for the region.
John Wright president of Punta Gorda’s Chamber of Commerce responding to this news points out the city always enjoys a positive reviews but the chamber is also reaching out and marketing to a slightly younger demographic. Indicating the greater Punta Gorda area is a waterfront community with world class boating and golf in a small city setting.
As a realtor I support these efforts and see this evolving with younger clients who discover Punta Gorda is full of energy with a lot to offer. You know there is something special happening in this historic city where you can go boating and fishing all day and come back to a downtown outdoor concert. I think looking back five to ten years we will go wow why didn’t I see this transformation happening.
Bottom line if you’re in the market for real estate especially waterfront property offering access from your backyard to incredible boating and fishing among other fun things to do you can’t find a better value than Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte FL homes.
