If you are like me with a passion for muscle cars, motorcycles and short track racing, then Charlotte County is the place for you.
Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda is recognized as one of the finest museums of its kind anywhere, and attracts visitors from all over the world. With over 200 cars on display, the museum has 75 Corvettes on display at any given time. Car enthusiasts rave about Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car collection. On weekends Muscle Car City has become the place for hosting some of the finest car shows in Florida.
Nascar’s roots were founded on short track racing and Punta Gorda has an excellent 3/8 mile race track. Every Saturday night the show comes to town with racers from all over the Southeastern United States putting on some of the best racing you will find anywhere. The track also hosts a go cart series and offers rentals, should you get the urge to test your skills.
Black Widow Harley Davidson, located in Port Charlotte, is a first class motorcycle dealership. They offer motorcycle rentals which are very convenient when visitors arrive and want to tour the area.
Florida hosts a number of national and international racing events for both cars and motorcycles for those inclined to travel around the state. There are also numerous car and motorcycle clubs which are very active in the area.
